Allen and Alethia Larsen after 14 years of providing custom cabinetry and design through Allen’s Fine Woodworking based at their home in the upper Hood River Valley, have opened a showroom in downtown Hood River, north of the Columbia Center for the Arts, on the corner of Third and Cascade.
A Hood River native, Allen found his passion for woodworking while at Hood River Valley High School. His career began with an apprenticeship at Hood Craft Cabinets, and then worked at Kreig Millwork, before starting Allen’s Fine Woodworking in 1999. Allen has been designing and installing affordable and beautiful cabinetry in Hood River Valley homes for more than 27 years.
Over the years Allen and Alethia have come to see their clients as friends and family. Getting to know clients during the design phase, coming to understand their exact needs, being available during installation and once completed, standing behind their work for years to come. By expanding into a new showroom in downtown Hood River, Allen and Alethia know the Allen’s Fine Woodworking family of clients will continue to grow and still they will continue to ensure each client gets the best value and price.

We moved into a 20+ year old home in mid-2018, and felt that we needed help with a kitchen update. The existing kitchen suffered from an inefficient layout, poor lighting, a very strange and shallow pantry, and a number of design issues. Allen and Alethia helped us work through some alternative views for both the overall design as well as for cabinetry. We didn't make any major structural changes, but gained a tremendous amount of space by eliminating odd soffits and using the space more efficiently.
Allen's designs allowed us to visualize how the space could look, and he worked closely with our contractor when any questions about the design came up. My goal was a brighter, modern kitchen that felt warm and inviting, even in the midst of an Oregon winter or on gloomy days (the kitchen has a north-facing exposure).
Our kitchen is done now and looks amazing. Allen and Alethia's suggestions for incorporating trash and recycling has made my life easier and reduced clutter and steps. The coffee prep bar from my husband's "wish list" is getting daily use.
Allen and Alethia always were prompt with appointments and followed up as expected. The cabinetry is beautiful and functional, and again], we appreciated suggestions on even small things that can make a big difference. We're on to our next project (a laundry room and a bathroom) and Allen's Fine Woodworking is our choice again for this reno! The folks at Allen's Fine Woodworking really did a solid number on this project of mine up in the Snowden area of White Salmon, WA. On their site here, it's the "Spectacular Rustic Transitional" project. The small existing cabin received quite the makeover inside and out plus a large addition to fully bring it up to "house" status.
